We are a telephone company using Polycom phones off of the Broadworks platform. We mainly use Soundpoint IP 335 models and are not sure if the HD voice functionality is working between phones. Can you tell me, or point me towards a document, that describes what is required in a SIP environment to ensure HD voice works correctly between capable phones? From what we can tell calls between phones are always using the G711 codec and never the G722 codec. Thank you.

Hello SottH,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The phone can be programmed via a provisioning server or the web interface what codecs it should offer and in hat priority these should be offered.

Usually in a SIP call the INVITE would contain all supported codecs as an offer and the far end would respond with a 200 OK to indicate that the negotiation was successful (based on the offer) and reply with the order of codecs it would like to establish the call.

I suggest you contact Broadworks and work with them on this.

Hello. I was able to determine via the SIP invites that the calling phone is indeed advertising G.722 as an availiable codec. However, when the called phone recieves the SIP invite the advertisement of G.722 is not there.

This is obvisouly not a polycom config issue at this point. Thank you for the assistance.
