My IP 6000 was dying, as seems to happen to at least a few other users, too. Red lights, no boot, no screen, no happyhappy joyjoy.

I opened my unit up and noticed a strange humming noise from one of the coils - see attached picture. It turns out the unit's coil was, well, dead. It looks like a weak solder joint, but who am I to blame the manufacturer.

For me it repeatedly worked to warm the coil and it's surroundings up with a simple hair dryer, then quickly boot the unit before everything cools down. Voila, working IP 6000. Once it's up it stays up, no humming, no problem, happy calls.

Please let me know if this worked for you, too - seems there's nothing to loose and lots to be gained by trying.

Hello @cts,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Please be aware that this is the official Polycom community hosted by Polycom.

You did not provide any details about the age of this unit or a serial.

I do fully understand that you would want our products to last as long as physically possible but please bear in mind that we cannot condone in official repairs and suggested solutions.

I have therefore removed the attachment and will close this post.

Please understand that Polycom has an official RMA infrastructure to offer repairs but we cannot host these kind of solutions due to electrical safety etc.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
