My carrier (SIP Trunk) states I have Call Transfer yet on my Norvaya BCM (Business Communications Manager) I was not able to do a hook flash on the SIP trunk via the actual hook switch or Feature code 71 (Link/Flash)....on hook switch method call drops right away where the Link/Flash code of Feature 71 does nothing at all.

Hook Flash works fine on the POTs line we have.

The carrier states Hook Flash is the only way to do Call Transfer.

I deregistered the BCM and tried a Polycom 670, it how ever does not have a Flash button.

Transfer button however did work.

What is the Transfer button actualy doing?

I have searched  all and there is no talk about hook flash and Polycom sets except for some anlog conference unit.

Thanks

Hello curlycord,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

Stating the above minimum requirement for a new post in my 30 year experience in telecoms I have never heard this term other than for a analog phone.

Please quote the relevant RFC so we can check this.

Do you think that will help you tell me what the Transfer key does?

What minimum requirement?

What term?

Hello curlycord,

The "READ FIRST: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum " states:

  • Ensure that you provide full details on the Software Version that is currently being used as described => here <=

The above is the minimum requirement for every post.

In regards to the term hook flash. It does not exist to my knowledge and if you want to know more how hold / transfer works using a Polycom SIP phone please check => here <= looking for Placing a call on hold (transfer or conference).
