We have some Polycom VVX500's with the Polycom top mount USB camera installed.  To repurpose some phones, how can I remove this camera.  I pulled really hard and it just won't come out.

Hello kjstech,

The VVX Camera should come with a guide explaining the additional security latch.

If you are no longer in possesion of this paper guide please check the Camera support page => here <=

The above holds the camera quick start guide which shows how to remove the camera when secured.

While pulling up generously on the camera with your hand, use a very thin electronics flat-head screwdriver. Push into backside gap between camera and phone with the screwdriver (on each side of the usb connector) until you hear a click. Remove Camera.

Hello snoonan,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

Thank you for resurrecting this older post but the above hyperlink should lead to the sufficient documentation illustrating this.

I have also now attached this to this 1.5 year old post.

The procedure which I found to work best involves the use of a thin flat-head screwdriver.  Gently slide the screwdriver into the gap until you hear a click, and proceed to remove the camera.  If this does not work, use two screwdrivers and apply a large amount of force to dislodge the camera from its unwelcome occupation.
