Hello everyone,

I am developing a provisioning application both from the phone (mainly IP7000) and from a regular website.
What I would like to know is if there is a way to get the MAC @ of the device using the internal web browser (with JavaScript maybe ?), or by interrogating the device with HTTP (as we can do with the PUSH feature).

Many thanks for your help,

Bruno.

Hello Steffen,

That could be a good idea but I tried this morning and when the phone requests a webpage using the internal browser, it is not sending the serial number in the User Agent...

I verified the configuration by exporting the xml file and I do see the 3 lines you are mentionning in your previous post.

Are you sure the phone is sending the information for all GET HTTP requests?

Thanks.

Hello Bruno,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

It would also be of interest if these units are out of a box or can reach a provisioning server to download some sort of configuration?

Hello Bruno,

Apart from the MAC address being shown on the web interface you could use the sec.tagSerialNo="1" as this appends the MAC address to the HTTP User agent.

Stephen,

Thanks for your quick reply.

So, if we develop a XHTML website on the phone, there is no way to get the MAC @ from it?

Thanks

Hello Bruno,

Do you mean the built in Microbrowser?

It does not support JAVA and only supports simple HTML.

If you provide more details on what it is to archive.

Can you test:

device.set="1"
device.prov.tagSerialNo.set="1"
device.prov.tagSerialNo="1"

From the Admin Guide:

  • If 0, the phone's serial number (MAC address) is not included in the User-Agent header of HTTPS/HTTPS transfers and communications to the microbrowser and Web browser. If 1, the phone’s serial number is included.
