How to page after you park a call?

We would like to know the best way to be able to send a page after you park an incoming call.  We are using VVX410 phones on the latest 5.3 firmware.  All of the phones are configured with the same paging groups.  Paging is working fine when doing it at any other time on the phones.  The problem happens when one of our operators receives a call and then parks the call.  They want to be able to send a page to notify the person that is not in their office that they have a call parked on line XXXX.  Once the call is parked the page button goes away and we are left with three choices: retrieve, new call, and lines.  It seems like in the past there was a 4th button to page.  I'm not sure what could have changed or why this feature isn't available.

The paging feature still works if the operator parks the call, then presses the home button, scrolls through all of the menu buttons to settings, then to features, then paging.  So the feature still works but that is much too confusing for the average person.

Any ideas?

Re: How to page after you park a call?

Steffen,

We have messed around with EFK's a fair amount trying to customize the phones to the users' requests.  We have been using the phones for about 6 months and are trying to get away from modifying the phones too much and getting them closer to how they act from the factory.  We worry that some of the changes we have made are causing reliability issues.

Here is what we did to create a page button that would appear at every menu on the phone whether the phone be on the hook, picked up, in the middle of a call, on hold, or anything like that.

<feature>
<feature.enhancedFeatureKeys feature.enhancedFeatureKeys.enabled="1"></feature.?enhancedFeatureKeys>
</feature>
<efk>
<version efk.version="2" />
<efklist
efk.efklist.2.mname="Page"
efk.efklist.2.label="Page"
efk.efklist.2.status="1"
efk.efklist.2.action.string="$FPage$"
/>
</efk>
<softkey
softkey.2.label="Page"

<feature>
<feature.enhancedFeatureKeys feature.enhancedFeatureKeys.enabled="1"></feature.?enhancedFeatureKeys>
</feature>

<efk>
<version efk.version="2" />
<efklist
efk.efklist.2.mname="Page"
efk.efklist.2.label="Page"
efk.efklist.2.status="1"
efk.efklist.2.action.string="$FPage$"
      />
</efk>
 <softkey
softkey.2.label="Page"
softkey.2.action="$FPage$"
softkey.2.enable="1"
softkey.2.precede="1"
softkey.2.use.idle="1"
softkey.2.use.alerting="1"
softkey.2.use.hold="1"
softkey.2.use.dialtone="1"
softkey.2.use.active="1"
 />

We are not very experienced at this and that code is cobbled together from different things we have read.  It had worked as desired for quite some time.  The page button will not show up once a call is parked though now.

Re: How to page after you park a call?

Hello Jben,

Not every situation the phone is in can be defined with a Softkey.

Stating the above your example does not contain Proceeding or Setup so you should look at these as well.

If there is no such action for the state the phone is in the next step would be to raise this via your Polycom reseller as a feature request.

Jan 03, 2013 Question: How can I request a change to the current Polycom SIP / UCS Software?

Resolution: Please check => here <=
