Hi,

I need to implement a PBX option to start a 3-way conference on the phone initiated by the user from the screen. The Polycom supports event "conference" but I'm not sure if that can be used for this purpose. I have tested the following scenario but without success:

- setup a first call and put it on hold

- setup a second call

- send a Notify to the phone on the first call with header "Event: conference"

The phone responded with a "bad request"

Does anybody know if conferencing in this way is supported and how to do it?

thx

Bert

Hello Bert,

assuming you mean one of our SIP Phones I have therefore moved this post to the correct section.

Usually you call the first person and then press Conference and you can dial the next number and then press conference again and you join the parties.

I do not think we support this event and am not aware of the RFC that is providing this feature.

You can also use a central conference server via the voIpProt.SIP.conference.address Parameter.

Above would send an Invite to this server address and then just add more parties via Invites to that address.

I tested this with Asterisk as an example.

Best Regards

yes I am refering to the SoundPoint phone.

The events allowed by the phone are "hold, talk, conference" (included in every Invite send by the phone)

"hold" and "talk" can be used to place or get call on or from hold. In the same way I expected "conference" to join the calls.

Do you know what "conference"is used for if it isn't for this purpose?

thx

Bert
