Hello Billy,

you are aware of the workaround method as you posted it and I removed it.

The linked FAQ post shows you how to reset the phone to the standard administrator password.

If you still unable to do so please contact your Polycom reseller and / or Polycom support directly.

I've run into a similar issue. I have several Polycom 335 phones. There is one for which I do not know the admin password. With the phones that have the 3.3 software, I have been able to power down the phone and hold the key sequence during the boot countdown to reset the phone, and then use the magic "unmentionable" method to reset the phone AND the admin password.

BUT...when I upgraded the phones to 4.0 software, I no longer get a boot countdown at all (it just says "starting application"), so there's no opportunity to do a true factory reset. It does ask for a password, but it won't let me enter letters, only numbers, so I can't put in the "unmentionable" key to reset the phone.

I'm probably missing something obvious...any help appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Brian,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

You are correct we do not discuss this within this community.

If you managed to upgrade these phones and prior reset the password I am unsure why you would have to do this again. If you managed to upgrade these via a provisioning server you can simply change the password from the same server using a configuration file.
