i have edited the (mac)-directory.cfg file, but the phone will not pull the updates from the provisioning server.

Keeping in mind i am new to setting up a IP phone system. (self teaching)

Hello @travis_farmer,

I looked up the MAC of this phone and it was sold via SCANSOURCE COMMUNICATIONS back in 19/11/2010 so this seems to be a very long day 1 issue.

Hello @travis_farmer,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Both the community's Must Read First and the community's FAQ reference the basic minimum information a new or follow up post should contain.

This ensures the questions having to be asked are limited and any new or follow up post contains the right amount of details to ensure any voluntary participant within the community does not spend additional time chasing basic information.

As a reminder the basic information asked for:

  • Provide the exact Software Version of your Phone
  • Provide the Phone Model
  • Provide the Call Platform (aka openSIP, Skype for Business, Lync)
  • If applicable provide a backup of the phone in question

UC Software 4.0.0 or later via the Web Interface Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup

  • If possible provide a Log and either attach them or use the Code Tag.Consult the Troubleshooting Section found within the FAQ if applicable
  • If possible provide the MAC Address or Serial of the device
  • Provide details if the issue is a day 1 issue or only happened after an upgrade or any other relevant details

Whilst providing these details may not directly impact any possible answer the community can provide, it does enable Polycom to have an overview of the current software used. In addition other details allow us to look up a potential support partners if an issue needs to come into support. It also enables us to verify the entitlement for using features.

Please ensure you always check the FAQ's and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

sorry for the lack of information.

SW version: 5.1.1.0132

UC SW version: 4.1.1.0731

Phone Model: SoundPoint IP 650 (2345-12600-001 Rev: M)

Call Platform: Asterisk 13.22.0 (SNG7, FreePBX 14.0.3.19)

Phone backup: attached (The attachment's 0004f230f957_soundpointip650_04-10-2018_08-39.pbu content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.)

MAC: 00:04:F2:30:F9:57

as i have been self-teaching myself how to setup a VoIP/SIP phone system, it has taken a while to figure everything out. this pnone was bought used, and formatted, so i had to learn how to provision it. i have the system working, and it pulled 000000000000-directory.xml from the provision server, but if i update it, or the 0004f230f957-directory.cfg file, the new information is not pulled from the provision server. i guess this would be a day-1 issue.

I have tried a restart and a reboot of the phone to get it to pull the new info, neither of which worked.

thank you for responding.
