Hello Ken,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I setup my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

Are you sure you followed the above on every step i.e. have the Updater / Upgrader and the UCS Software in the same directory unzipped ?

You may want to try FTP rather than TFTP as well.

Please ensure you always check the community FAQ and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

Hello Ken,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

Is this error message in any way related to the original topic of this discussion aka. muted audio ?

If yes we would require the whole logs and the configuration used and a wireshark trace in paralel.

Please provide all this data via your Polycom reseller in order for them to open a ticket with Polycom support.

Hi

I am working with Ken and thought I coudl reply as in same timezone so might keep things moving quickly :-).

The original problem was one-way voice on SIP calls but the Polycoms were running old V3.* s/w, so as recommended by others in this forum we set up a test provisioning server and loaded the V4.0.4B s/w and then tried this out on a test Polycom, once it upgraded and looked to be OK, we set up a more permanent Provisioning Server, with same s/w and then had all the remaining Polycoms upgraded to V4.0.4B. Checking the logs on the new provisioning server it looked like they all upgraded without issue.

We have been conducting some experiements on the new Polycom and to assist we also setup a SYSLOG server to capture the Polycom logs, in case they reported problems if the original one-way voice problem reoccured. However in checking the SYSLOGs we found that pretty much all of the Polycoms, excluding the test Polycom are reporting this error message on what seems a failry random but frequent basis. From what I understand the Polycoms are basically working but we see this error and as it is marked critical thought we should sort it out in case it impacts or masks problems reproducing the original problem.

Frmo what I can see these messages are not associated with calls in progress, as we see many of these in the very early hours of the morning, see attached document

Currently all the Polycoms are displaying the same version for s/w and bootrom on the home page, see attachment,

but only those Polycoms that were upgraded off the new provisioning server are displaying this error message.  So we don't think it is the Polycoms but rather something in the provisioning server but we can't see any differences between the temporary provisioning server and the new permanent one :-(, could use some clues as to what to look for.

Any help much appreciated.

John
