Hi there

I am trying to upgrade my 430's to the latest Bootrom Version (4.2.3) and latest sip version (3.2.7) however the phone is in a continual boot loop as it is failing to update the bootrom.

A snippet of the syslog shows:

46081: 2014-02-06 08:58:03: |3|00|Download of 'dms/polycom430/2345-11402-001.bootrom.ld' succeeded on attempt 1 (addr 1 of 2)

46090: 2014-02-06 08:58:04: |6|00|Error updating bootROM!

I have uploaded the bootrom file to the provisioning server with different names to see if that has ay effect:

2345-11402-001.bootrom.ld

bootrom.ld

4.2.3.bootrom.ld

But still no joy - anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Dave

Hello Dave,

the name is either <partnumber>.bootrom.ld or just bootrom.ld.

If this fails please check the screen of the phone.

Does the phone have a countdown from 9 to 0 or 99 to 0.

If 99 then you have a dev phone.

You should also check what the current BootROM is on the phone.

Hi Steffen

Thanks for the reply, the countdown on the phone is from 9-0.

Current Bootrom is 4.1.1.0232 - I have the understanding that I should just be able to upgrade straight to 4.2.3 - is that correct?

Will the phone try to update the Bootrom or Application first?

Is there anything in the logs I have supplied that specify what is going wrong at all?

Many thanks

What I am failing to understand is the entry:

1544: 2014-02-06 12:09:23: |4|00|Bad header checksum, expected=0x2D222043 got=0x83573259

What exactly does the entry mean?

Cheers

Hello Dave,

basically when we load any software we check if the software has the correct signature (i.e. no malicious code) and in addition if it is the correct file for the handset in question.

As the SoundPoint IP 430 has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase I am unable to verify this myself at present so the only other option would be to try and not directly jump to the latest available BootROM.

You will not be able to open a free support case as the unit is well out of warranty and you would need to pay PPI in order to get this looked at by our support team.

Best Regards
