I have several IP6000s, that I simply want to update to latest firmware/software to use in a 3CX system (Win7).

Can some kind soul, outline the steps (checklist) that I need to take to do this simple task ?

Maybe I am dense, but I am confused on the procedure.

Do I need to go through multiple iterations of upgrading? - What tool do I need to use to apply it ?

I have spent two hours roaming this site and have found lots of info, but I need some clarity and direction.

I have gotten into the web portal on the phone and all, but do not see any way to apply an upgrade. TFTP ?

I assume that I will be using UCS 4.03f as that appears to be the latest for the IP6000.

TIA for taking the time to reply  (assuming that you do!)

Hello 10Gauge,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

You should usually enquire with 3CX as your SIP Platform on how to provision our phones from their solution.

If you need to do this manually then communitys VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I setup my Phone / Provisioning / Download Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above clearly outlines how to do this in a few short paragraphs:

If a Polycom Phone is used in a non supported Environment the End Customer is responsible to setting up a local Provisioning Server.

The Server (FTP is preferred) needs to be setup to provision the desired SIP / UC Software Revision.

Usually this is archived via downloading a compatible SIP / UC Software Revision from => here <=

As an example download software version UCS 4.0.3 Rev F and unzip the content of the download into a directory. You will then have to point the relevant Server (HTTP(s), FTP(s) or TFTP) to the directory where the Software has been unzipped.

Note: More detail on using the Freeware FTP Server Filezilla can be found in this guide => here <= !!!

To manually point the Phone to a Provisioning Server please do the following Steps:

Reboot the Phone (unplug Ethernet cable and plug back in)

  • · Press Setup or Cancel and then Setup when the countdown is being displayed
  • · Password 456
  • · Scroll down to DHCP menu and press select/enter
  • · Change the Boot Server to static via the Edit Button
  • · Press Back
  • · Scroll down to Server Menu and press select/enter and change to the following values

Server Type: FTP(s), TFTP or HTTP(S)

Server Address: IP Address or Hostname of your Server

Server User: Username of your server (if needed)

Server Password: Password of your server (if needed)

Exit and Save and let the Phone re-boot.

If further support is required please follow this up either with 3CX, your Polycom reseller or check my signature for more details.
