Is Hacking(?) phone necessary???

I just purchased a set of 11 polycom 501s. The company that is going to install them says he may need to hack them to reset them and wants $60 per phone to do this.

Any one heard of this? Can't they easily be reset to factory specs? Am I being ripped off?

Are these phones easy to set up on an existing system?

Thanks
