Hi,
We have Polycom VVX-410 phones running software version 4.1.7.1210. We are saving contacts to the local contacts directory on the phones, however when we reboot the phones the contacts are lost. I understand this may be because of a setting set at the provisioning server (which unfortunately we don't have access to), can someone please confirm if this is the case and what setting this would be?
Thanks,
Martin
Hello MArtin,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
Yes the creation of local contacts can be prevented and I suggest you check with your Service Provider.

Hi Steffen,
Very helpful, thank you. What setting is it that causes this to happen? We need to forward this information to our service provider so that they can assist us further.
Thanks,
Martin
Hello Martin,
Your service provider should know what they change on the Polycom phone factory settings.
An example could be dir.local.readonly.
Please work with them or get them to raise a support ticket with Polycom.

Hi Steffen,
Unfortunately we've had this response from the service provider; "Gamma Horizon have informed me due to security risks to their provisioning servers, read/write from the phone is unavailable." - is this something Polycom could resolve in software, to allow the phone to store contacts truly locally rather than having to write them back to the server each time? Otherwise this is extremely inconvenient.
Thanks,
Martin
Hello Martin,
The <MAC>.cfg the Phone loads contains sections like the CONTACTS_DIRECTORY=""
You could ask your Provider to add a FTP server address on your Network.
Example: CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="FTP://1:1@Server"
The above would prompt the Phone to upload any local directory to your own server.
