Hi.

I am trying to configure an older polycom 501 to have two lines registered to two different asterisk servers.

I have been able to get the 2nd line to show on the phone but it's trying to register to the first server instead of the 2nd.

Hello Vagabond,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I check out the Registration Status of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above will show the server address that the individual line is registered to.

As you have not provided any background information if this ever worked before or maybe if another line was registered prior to your attempt to program this I can only assume that you or someone else may have added details for the line 2 by the web interface or on the phone directly.

Above would overrule any settings provided via a provisioning file. Check this on the Phone or the Web Guide to verify that no other server is added.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Hi Steffen

No. I have never had multiple lines on this phone and all of our phones are provisioned from one central server using DHCP and FTP.

The web interface on our phones is disabled via xml settings as well.

I have done this configuraiton before on other phones in the past but It has been years and I have been unable to find a working configuration example to try.

When I look at the phones line 1 is registered properly to server1 but line 2 is not registered.  On the asterisk server for line1 i can see that the phone is sending it's registration requests there instead of to the server for line2.  Somewhere I need to override the server ip that it is using.

I am now running:

BootRom: 4.1.4

SIP: 3.1.18

Which are the last Legacy versions available for this phone.  I have had this configuration working years ago (2008) with this phone and this firmware but I have not been able to find a copy of the config that worked.

Both lines are trying to register to the same SIP server instead of one server for each line.

I need to know how I can override the voip server for line2 so that it is not using the server set in the system wide configuration.
