Service request opened.  What I have found so far is that when using vlans, dhcp can sometimes fail at the phone due to a malformed option 125 packet coming from the phone.  This applies to 4.1.5 only and a vvx.

Will update this post when I have more info and/or a resolution.

Hello,

would you mind sharing the SR number so I can keep an eye on the progress?

Best Regards

It seems the Option 125 within the DHCP Discover message is corrupted in latest firmware 4.1.5

Some DHCP Server such as Linux DHCP Server might ignore this option and thus, for some people DHCP will work fine, but for some others such as people using a Cisco DHCP Server, it might cause an error and the DHCP Offer is never sent.

This has not be confirmed yet, but this is what seems to happen.

Hello Dave,

I can confirm that a ticket was raised with our support team in North America for this issue and I tested this in the lab and can confirm that UCS 4.1.5 seems to have a malformed DHCP sub option 125.

This is being investigated and once a fix has been targeted I will provide an update.

Yes, the option 125 packet is causing the issue.  The same packet on 4.1.4 is fine.  This will cause dhcp to fail when using vlans.

When we play with the vlan settings on the router/switch, we can get the phones to complete the dhcp transaction.  However, if the router or switch is rebooted, dhcp will fail again.  To resovled, we muwt play with the vlan settings.

Not an ideal situation.  I have still have a service request opened with Polycom and am also working with Edgewater networks who are also indicating the issue is with option 125 on 4.1.5.

My SR is 1-410231521.  I provided captures using 4.1.4 and 4.1.5.  DHCP seems to fail when using vlans and 4.1.5.  When I disable VLANs, the malformed packet does not cause a failure.
