Hello, our org uses G Suites for NFPs and is based in Canada. We have a traditional office landline phone system that we need to move off of in a few months. I'm thinking of moving us to a 'cloud-based' phone system, ideally one where it'll be easy for us to move over to Google Voice whenever it launches in Canada.

I have zero experience with phone systems and I have a few questions:

  1. If we wanted desktop phones could we just use VVX OBI 250 phones, power them via AC adapters and plug in the Obihai USB-wifi adapter into each phone? Do we need any other cables or some sort of centralized phone system equipment?
  2. Is the wifi adapter compatible with a WPA2 network?
  3. What's the speakerphone quality of these phones?
  4. Anyone have good/bad experiences with these phones?
  5. Other than Google Voice, can these phones be used with any other ‘cloud-based’ phone system?

Thanks!

Hello @philliproh ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

I suggest you check with Google on this as they would provision the phones and may disable certain settings the phone has natively. I am unsure if they, for example, have the USB port activated. The ObiWiFi adapter supports all modern WiFi standards. An example can be found >here< or >here<

The phones will work with a normal network connection.

All Poly phones either running the Obi Edition or the Standard UC Software are using the openSIP standard and work with nearly all SIP providers.
