Hi there,

The current situation is like this:

We use a hosted PBX (Broadsoft) to sell to clients. We can autoprovision the Polycom 550, but to do so I would have to set at least a username and a password in every phone manually. The username is different for EVERY phone.

What I would like to do is as follows:

Use DHCP option 66 to point to LOCAL ftp/TFTP server with files based on MAC address. In this cfg file I would like the URL of the profisioning server, the username and the password.

I have already created a script that will allow me to quick create these files. I know that the Polycom phone will use the DHCP option if it is there. BUt disabling this option should activate the phone settings and use these to provision.

Somehow I cannot get the config right to set the URL, username and password. Is anyone able to help me with this?

Hello scraane,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The Phone would receive via the initial DHCP request the IP / Address of a provisioning server.

On this server you would house an individual <mac>.cfg file with an example config of (only the important part is shown):

CONFIG_FILES="http://www.provisioning-example.com/000123456789_details.cfg"

 or

CONFIG_FILES="ftp://username:password@provisioning-example.com/000123456789_details.cfg"

The 000123456789_details.cfg would then contain the username or other device.set parameters pointing it to another server that holds the individual data.

Please work with your Polycom Reseller if you need more details or support.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
