Hello,

I enabled paging on a few VVX500 and VVX600 phones, but it does not work.  I do not receive any errors.

I press on paging button, after that I press on Page button. It beeps and tells me that it is "Sending Page", but nobody can hear anything.  No sound or any other notification that page is coming on other phones.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thank you.

Hello Kane,

This is most likely a firewall issue. The page is being send as a broadcast. Run a wireshark trace on the phone end to verify.

Best regards

I had a similiar issue before using Asterisk and their soundpoint line, what PBX are you using?  The issue I had was simply that the Alert-Info on my polycom needed to be changed via the config file to match what asterisk was sending to it.

Hello all,

I need to correct above statement. Paging (Push to Talk / PTT) utilizes a multicast and is described => here <=.

This new feature introduced in UCS 4.0.0 does not rely on the call server to utilize SIP Headers.

I hope that clarifies and confusion.

Best Regards

when i perform PTT between 2 phones with IP addresses 10.17.120.X, it works.

however, when i perform PTT on 2 phones where 1 phone has IP address 10.17.102.X and the other phone has 10.17.112.X, it doesnt work.

is this normal behavior?

Hello Ryan Heng,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

This is most likely a routing / firewall / VLAN issue and I suggest you get your Network Administrator to check why the Multicast traffic is not routed between network segments.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
