  • Hi, I am a VoIP technician and I would like to make a recommendation. Whenever I have a customer provision a phone, they always seem to become very concerned and ask why their polycom phone says 'network is down' during boot up. Lets put ourselves in the customers shoes for a moment. Wouldn't you be concerned too if you saw your phone say that? Imagine you had a business and a phone is telling you your network is down. Would you immediately be concerned also?

Many businesses depend on their phones. It is the life blood, the bread and butter of their business. So if a phone is telling them that the network is down, I would be alarmed. Lets put ourselfs in our customers shoes and put our pride aside.

I know I would and I hear every day I am at work and help provision a polycom phone for a customer. I think Polycom should rephrse that from the reboot process. Lets give our customers the proper expectation and amazing experience. Thanks - Nick Diaz, Nextiva VoIP Technical Support Specialist

I will +1 this. Especially since the network could really be down because it has just provisioned the phone and updated the time when displaying this message.
