Hi All,

One of our users has added some people to her phone directory (locally), and when she searches the directory everything appears fine.

When dialling out, the phone shows "Name (number)" which is correct (EG: Joe Bloggs (01234 1234567)

When a call is incoming, it shows the number twice (EG: 01234 1234567 (01234 1234567), rather than showing the name.

We have tried repeating this on other Polycoms and it appears to be a standard setting.  Is there a way for us to set the phone to always show "Name (Number)" regardless of incoming/outgoing call status?

Hello AndyBabble,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

The feature requested depends on the Software Version used as it may need manual activation.

From the Directory FAQ Post:

Incoming Call Identification:

An incoming call can also be identified via a Name rather than a number when utilizing the up.useDirectoryNames="1" Parameter.

NOTE: This feature is activated as a standard in UCS 4.0.0!

Our Software version is 4.0.10

I'll let our devs know about the provisioning line, I was hoping there a was an option on the phone menu to turn on names, or some toggle somewhere to do this.  Something easy for a user to understand (click this, click that, push this).

I assume from your post this is not possible and the phones are set as 'standard' to not show the name.

Hello AndyBabble,

Please re-read my reply.

Since UC Software 4.0.0 the phone directory is automatically checked against an entry for a number and will display the name.

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local directory or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above explains this and also shows how to use the phone logs to troubleshoot this.

If this is not the case then you have a issue and need to work with your Polycom reseller to open a support ticket.
