My Windows 7 Skype app started putting up a message "Polycom_Communicator.exe app will stop working with Skype starting in December 2013". I went to the support page at http://support.polycom.com/PolycomService/support/us/support/voice/communicator/communicator_c100s.h... and it does not show any newer version than my current 3.0.0.29. What gives? The hardware says "Skype" on it in big letters, but apparently Polycom no longer supports it! Will I lose all speakerphone functionality? Do I have to buy new hardware?

Hello bhami,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

As a test I just installed the C100S Windows 7 drivers on my PC and I got no such message.

My Skype application is 6.6.60.106.

There is currently no Windows 8 driver as the Hardware is not advertised as Windows 8 compatible.

I"ve also been receiving the same message from Skype regarding the Polycomm Communicator. Skype indicates that it will no longer work with Skype beginning in December 2013

There is a Change.org petition at http://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/skype-microsoft-provide-continued-support-for-third-party-skyp... since Skype's decision to terminate support for their Desktop API's at year end. Pamela, a popular desktop Skype recording software, recommends "Skype 6.9 will show a warning message when you start Pamela for Skype that Pamela will stop working in December 2013. This is only if you update to Skype 6.11. As long as you do not, we expect you can still use Pamela but can not guarantee this. "

Hello all,

I checked this with our Product Management team and the official response is:

Note: Skype decided to retire and discontinue the Skype Desktop API in December 2013 – more information is available on Skype’s website here.
The call-control buttons on the Polycom Communicator C100S (C100S) will no longer work once the Desktop API has been discontinued. However, the C100S will continue to work normally. You’ll only need to use the buttons in your Skype application to answer or end a call, mute/unmute and increase/lower volume.
