Hello Everyone,

I've been pouding away at every possible angle to get the Polycom IP5000 working in my Avaya Enviornment. After days of work I have the phone finally talking to SM via TCP, Registering on a Line, and allowing users to call any non-sip extension on campus along with outside calls.

Which leads me to my issue. The polycom phone DOES NOT want to call members of it's SIP domain. When I do a trace of the polycom calling the SIP station the following occurs:

12:03:05 SIP<INVITE sip:1855@sip.domain.edu SIP/2.0
12:03:05 Call-ID: 80cc60a960fce31fb252e7b8ce00
12:03:05 SIP>INVITE sip:1855@sip.domain.edu SIP/2.0
12:03:05 Call-ID: 80cc60a960fce31fb252e7b8ce00
12:03:05 SIP<SIP/2.0 100 Trying
12:03:05 Call-ID: 80cc60a960fce31fb252e7b8ce00
12:03:05 SIP>SIP/2.0 100 Trying
12:03:05 Call-ID: 80cc60a960fce31fb252e7b8ce00
12:03:09 SIP<SIP/2.0 408 Request Timeout
12:03:09 Call-ID: 80cc60a960fce31fb252e7b8ce00

The phone doesn't ring and does successfuly transfer to voicemail. Doing the opposite (calling from the SIP station to the conference phone), allows the call to connect, but no audio is heard in either direction.

Each SIP station I have set up is able to call one another as well as the rest of my enivornment leading me to think that I'm missing some sort of setting in the Polycom IP5000.

I'm running Avaya Communication Manager 6.0 with Session Manager 6.3.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hello dsychtysz,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The IP5000 has been interoperability tested by Avaya and you can verify this => here <=

Based on your statement above the SSIP is actually trying to call the other end

12:03:05 SIP<SIP/2.0 100 Trying

but does not get a response.

12:03:09 SIP<SIP/2.0 408 Request Timeout

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 19, 2012 Question: How to troubleshoot Polycom VoIP related Issues?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above explains in detail how to troubleshoot VoIP related issues utilizing the phones logs (if it runs at least UCS 4.0.0) or Wireshark via a spanned port.
