I recently setup a provisioning server for our Polycom phones, and ever since I have been seeing strange broadcast issues coming from certain phones. We have several IP321 phones that are fine, and we also have a IP320 phone that is working fine. But several Polycom 5xx series phones are sending out strange broadcast packets every hour, on the hour (sample shown in the xArp image attached).

The Polycom 321 are running the latest software (4.1.0) and they do not have this issue.

The older Polycom 320 is running the latest available to it (3.3.5) and does not have this issue.

The 5xx series phones are running 3.1.8, and they all have this arp/broadcast issue.

Its not hindering our network at all, but it is an annoyance for the 2 of us that monitor for arp changes.

At first I thought it was NTP syncing but that is not the case as I changed the resync time to 7 days and we still see the alert every hour.

Im not sure which config would be relevant in this situation to post, since I dont yet know what the issue is. Any ideas?

Hello ALSC_Brad,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I have not heard of this and had a quick look in our internal database for this without luck.

This would require a service ticket via your Polycom reseller and / or Polycom support to investigate this properly.

Are these legacy SPIP500 / 501's or 550 or 560?

Hi Steffen,

I just checked all phone models through our office.

Every phone that is having this issue is a legacy SPIP501.

I have a SPIP550 that does not have this issue, but it is running 4.1.0 as well since its not a legacy device.

It is just the SPIP501s that are doing this.
