Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to add security to my config files that are stored on a provisioning server. I read in one of the admin guides that I can setup a x.509 certificate on my web server that will enable me to authenticate polycom phones trying to retrieve their config and only send configs to these authenticated phones. However, it is stated a bit further down that this would only work on a windows server which I do not have and would prefer avoiding. Can anyone confirm this info?

My next option is to use the encryption API, where I could simply encrpy the configs that I am sending out to phones requesting it.
I am not too knowleadgable in regards to various encryption methods, so if anyone can comment on the security level of this method it would be appreiciated.

Thanks in advance

Wallnut

Hello Wallnut,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Our Polycom phones support FTP(s) and HTTP(s) and you can download a certificate for the Phones from http://pki.polycom.com/ and apply it to any server.

In order to encrypt the configuration files you need to raise a Support Ticket via your Polycom reseller as we require some additional information in regards of export restrictions.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
