Hello community

I have a quick question concerning the polycom SoundPoint IP 335 phone. After a firmware upgrade our phones all lost their nodename. Is there a possibility to change the nodename remotely? We want to prevent walking from phone to phone and change the nodename manually.

Thanks for your help.

regards,

Dario

Hello Dario,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

I am not 100% if I understand what you are after as the Hostname of the Device is usually Polycom_XXXXXXXXXXXX  where the X represents the phones MAC Address.

You can change this via:

<test device.set="1" device.hostname.set="1" device.hostname="" />

The above would either need to be imported per phone via the Web Interface (UC Software 4.0.0 or later) or configured on the provisioning server.

Hi Steffen

First of all. Thank you for your answer and sorry about my late reply. Things have been rather busy here, so I could only have a look on it now.

This answer seems to go in the right direction but some things are not quite clear to me yet. But yes, you got my point - it's exactly about the hostname which is usually Polycom_MACADDRESS.

I have also checked the UC Software version on our SoundPoint IP phones, which is:

4.0.8.1608

I do not have any access to the phones webinterface. I assume it is possible that the web interface is deactivated by design? Or maybe it was deactivated after the phone being provisioned by the server? I am very new to this telephony topic, so I am not a 100% sure. We are working with Interactive Intelligence software (2015 R4 patch 2 to be precise). I have checked the Interactive Intelligence software but was not able to find settings for the provisioning server? Do you maybe know, where setting mentioned in your post can be applied?

<test device.set="1" device.hostname.set="1" device.hostname="" />I

Thank you very much and best regards,

Dario

Hello Dario,

It is possible that the Web Interface is disabled. You would need to double check the local configuration.

There is an FAQ post for this in the community.

In regards to the new parameters you would need to inquire with InIn how to add these to your configuration.

Hi Steffen

Thanks for your reply. I am going to check with InIn on how to implement a config file that contains the hostname of the IP phone.

I will let you know when I made it.

Kind regards,

Dario
