I purchased used Polycom SoundPoint IP 450 and 430 from ebay.  They both require 24V, and I used universal 24V adapater that I purchased at Radioshack.

Both unit show solid red lights and there was no display.  I could not reset to default, since there is no display.

When I typed IP address on computer, Google Chrome or Explorer could not connect to the IP address.

Polycom Manual says "no display "when power is not correctly applied.

I wonder whether both units are dead or whether power is not correctly applied.

Does anyone have experience with used Polycom not displaying with solid red lights?

Hello stevem,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

You cannot just purchase any power supply as only we only support the original power supplies or PoE.

You may have damaged the units already.

If you would use the original supported power supply the device would work if it was in working condition when the seller sold this to you.

Your response seem little bit odd; since Polycom does not provide "original power supplies", and often states universal 24V power source in documents.

I am looking for more technical response, than response to waive responsibilities.

What does it tell you when

- no display

- solid red light

Hello stevem,

Polycom does sell power supplies for any installation that does not have PoE.

Your Polycom reseller should be the right person to contact in order to purchase one of the below:

2200-17878-001

Universal Power Supply for SPIP 321, SPIP 331, SPIP 335 SPIP 450. 1-pack, 24V, 0.5A, NA power plug.

2200-17569-001

Universal Power Supply for SPIP 320, SPIP 330, SPIP 430, SPIP 550, SPIP 601& SPIP 650. 5-pack, 24V, 0.5A, NA power plug.

Some are only shipped in packs of 5.

They are called universal as they fit multiple different models.

If the correct power supply is used the phone will boot up.

I cannot troubleshoot your individual issue as you are not using a conform power supply or PoE.

Best Regards

I am having the same issue with our Polycom 450 where there is no display and solid red lights. I have tried to factory reset it using 1357 on reboot with no luck. What are other options? I have reprovisioned the phone and verified power. What other things can I try or is this a fried phone?

Hello pkellyco,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Its sometimes useful to provide a bit of history on the device in question.

  • Is this a brand new unit that has done this from day one or is this an older unit?
  • Did you purchase this new or is this a second hand unit?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hi there

It is a phone we purchased a while ago and we are trying to provision it for one of our employees. What are you thoughts? Why would there be no display and solid red lights? Is it workable or is it toast?

Thanks,

PK

Hello pkellyco,

Did the unit work prior to you trying to set this up for this employer or was it sitting in a box?

I would assume you require an RMA not knowing the background story of this unit.

Thanks! That answered my question. It is not repairable without a RMA. What does it take to get an RMA?

Hello pkellyco,

Usually your Polycom reseller would organize this for you. It depends if in warranty or outside warranty.
