Hi Guys,

We are rolling out some Polycom VVX250 handsets in our organization and may require some Firewall Configs to allow internet traffic to and from the handsets.

My question on this forum is: Under what circumstances would a VVX250 unit need Internet Access? Off the top of my head i'm thinking:

1. Firmware Upgrades

2. Team Integration

3. Register with Online SIP Server

THX....

Hello @Ricardo Arneaud ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

Our public FAQ contains this:

Jan 21, 2014 Question: What Ports / Protocols are being used / need to be open in a Firewall?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

  • For Firmware we use HTTP
  • For openSIP, we usually use port 5060 and Skype for Business on Premise 5061
  • The RTP range is covered in the FAQ

I am unsure what you mean by Teams as these Phones cannot register to Skype for Business online via the 3PIP gateway.

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the ports to open on our FW.

The other part of the question was "Under what circumstances will the VVX250s need to access the Internet?"

Regards

Ricardo

Hello @Ricardo Arneaud ,

As already stated for Firmware updates as an example. I could also imagine you want to use the paid service of PDMS-E to have an overview of your devices and manageability or the free Lens service.

Both of these use 443 from memory.
