Hello Community,

Long story short I had Google Voice, they updated and changed my polycom 250 phone to have a very advanced menu --> and my new carrier RingCentral and Google Voice and Polycom - cannot help me.

The menu for when you login from PC (you use the IP for the phone), enter username Admin & password, when I do this - my menu has options that do not show up on ANY support for the Polycom 250, so I need some assistance trying to configure the phone back to a simple menu. It seems Google Voice added too many updates and parameters. I have tried Factory resetting - however that only resets the basic functions and deletes the wifi access (the phone essentially still acts the same way). Please see attached screenshot of the advanced menu - This is for those who have higher knowledge of IT. I believe I need to install a different version of the firmware - but I am not that tech savvy to understand where and how to upload it with this crazy advanced menu.

Anyone else have this issue? With google voice or another carrier installing an advanced menu on a Polycom phone? I've been stuck on this for over a week dealing with RingCentral, Google Voice, & Polycom - they all say someone else should be helping me - Polycom said my phone is out of warranty, and they(third party who sold me the phone) were responsible for assisting me.

PLEASE HELP! I just want to use my desktop phone again, but Google went and complicated everything.

Thank you,

Stephanie

Hello @Starfish682 ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

The Google Voice service utilizes the ObiEdition software of a VVX. Poly devices usually utilize the UC Software instead.

They are both completely different and we do not officially recommend flashing one to another.

Our FAQ contains this post here:

Sep 03, 2019 Question: Can I convert a Poly VVX into ObiEdition or UC Software?

ResolutionThe process is not officially supported by Poly.

  • If you want a VVX in Obi Edition please purchase the ObiEdition
  • If you want a VVX in UC Software please purchase a VVX in UC Edition

Instructions can be found >here< and please use at your own risk.

Again the above outlines that this is not supported by Poly support.

Instructions on how to register a normal SIP service to any Provider are here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: Can I register or is my Polycom Phone compatible with a “XYZ” SIP Server?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

I did see similar instructions, however I am left still unable to follow the prompts because my menu is sooooooo different from even the menu there - I guess Google Voice really went in and altered my settings, and they say they cannot undo them, and I am confused at what to do - other than buy a new phone - since the firmware is different. I included the first 3 screenshotts worth of that auto provisioning menu - it does not give me an option for Auto Firmware Update with a Firmware  URL.

Hello @Starfish682 ,

Google will have to release this phone from our PDMS-SP service or you will always end up with their settings.

Prior to this, to my own personal knowledge, there is nothing we can do.
