I have a Polycom phone that I am using at my home office as VOIP. I was able to previously receive and answer phone messages on it using AT&T UVerse.

I have now switched office where I am now using this phone when the office has Grandstream phones. I have also switched internet providers to Charter. I can receive messages on it but the phone does not ring so I can't answer any phone calls.  I'm not sure if the problem started occuring when I changed offices or changed internet providers. I do think that the problem may have occurred after a minor electrical outage. He did reset it once but it lost it's connection again.

The IT guy for the office told me I would need to get a Static Ip address. The phone worked fine before with no cost but now I need  a Static IP address? This defeats the purpose of VOIP at my house as a reduction in cost.

Is the IT guy missing something? Is it the problem of combining a Polycom phone with a Grandstream system? Is it changing internet providers?

Does anyone have any solutions on how to correct the problem? Tell me what questions I need to ask to get this corrected.

Thanks for your help!

you dont need a static address...

Couple things to check..

1. the router from Charter.. make sure SIP ALG is disabled

2. Under the SIP Outbound proxy, might need to change that to UDP only..
