I rented a phone from Ring Central, the VXX601. Nice device when hard-wired. I was trying to set up for wifi connectivity. At first, I was told by ringcentral to purchase the OBIWIFI dongle and just plug and and voila! Guess what? Once I got the dongle and plugged in on both USB ports, it did not work. I call back and they tell me that the firmware was not tested for this particular model to setup wifi.
My question is:
1) I guess until Ring central does not offer a firmware update, the wifi feature will not work despite having the dongle installed correct?
2) Do you know if another VOIP service allows WIFI feature on the 601?
3) if this does not work, I am almost planning to get a CISCO 8861......

Since UC Software 5.9.0 simply provide this via the Web Interface Diagnostics > Download Support Information Package
Whilst providing some of these details may not directly impact any possible answer the community can provide, it does enable Poly to have an overview of the current software used. In addition, providing all details at the same time allow us to check logs or look up potential support partners if an issue needs to come into support. It also enables us to verify the entitlement for using features.

The above explains that since UC Software 5.8.0 we do support the Obi WiFi dongle. Your Service Provider may have not approved this software version so it is at their discretion to allow your endpoint on their network.
Please work with them on this as we do support the dongle from 5.8.0 onwards.
