Hi All,

I have several vvx600's and would like the presence (buddy) option to work, I have enabled the options, but no matter what I do, I get "prescence server is unreachable" when trying to add a contact to monitor, I also get the same error when pressing the "My Status" softkey

I do have the following in all phones

<feature.presence feature.presence.enabled="1">
</feature.presence>

The firmware is 5.4.0.5841

I am not using Lync or Skype Business, this is running in sip mode.

I have the vvx600 using a freepbx server and ports 5060/5061 are open

My peer-to-peer softphone is working fine for presence so again it looks like a couple of configuration lines I must have missed

I would also like the option of xmpp but I see a couple of years back the same question was asked and I am not sure if options have changed since then.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Hi Steffen,

I have resolved the issue, I had a whole bunch of unrelated errors in my xml todo with graphic and buttons, somehow it stopped the phone reading the rest of the config. Its only a guess because after getting rid of the xml errors, the buddy notification showed up.

Thanks for your help and links to FAQ's

Phil

Hello Phil1001,

I did a quick test using 5.4.0 GA and I cannot reproduce your issue.

Please check via the Phone logs or a wireshark trace if the phone SUBSCRIBES to the Server in order to monitor these extensions.

The next step is to raise a support ticket via your Polycom reseller with Polycom support.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hi Steffen,

I turned on phone debugging on SIP and there is no SUBSCRIBE, because I am on a non mirroring port switch, its hard to get wireshark to provide a full trace. I would love an old network hub for this type of testing... anyway to confirm the presence xml entry is the only change I added to the file to try and get presence, it does give me the "My Status" and "Buddies" and the "Buddies" takes me to another page to add contacts I would guess, but it instantly returns the Presence Server is Unreachable.

Is there another parameter I need to add or additional servers ? or is it SIP over the server specified in address under reg.1.server.1.address="name.server.domain"

Thanks again

Phil

Hello Phil,

No problem and thanks for coming back.

A good tip is to always open any XML files after editing with for example XML Notepad 2007 to double check for any formatting issues.

The Phone logs can also be utilized to spot such errors.
