If this has been asked already, I apologize.  I've looked through the forum and couldn't find quite what I am looking for.

Here's the scenario:

I want to program a button on the phone that shows up when the phone is idle.  If a user presses that button, it will basically prompt the user:

Do really want to press that button?

Two softkeys would then be present, one to return the phone to it's idle state, the other would be to proceed (in this case make a call).

I have the custom page configured as xhtml and believe that page works fine.  What I am struggling with is getting the softkey to fetch the url (or change the display).  Basically, I am looking to do something similar to pressing the Messages button takes me to Messages screen with my voicemail information (urgent, new, old) and the option to connect, exit, or clear.

I've tried setting softkey:fetch;http://validdomain.com/url.xhtml in the sip.cfg file, but that tries to "dial" that command or url.

Running Version 4.0.3.7562.  Phone is IP550 (would like to do the same for IP560, 650, and 6000).

Thanks for your help on this.

Hi kgunn

have you tried the softkey action? ie:

softkey.1.action="http://validdomain.com/url.xhtml"

just a suggestion not sure if it will work that way....

Cheers

Hello kgunn,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

As mentioned by Dave already you can assign a URL to a softkey or even a Hardware Key (I have not documented that yet in the FAQ).

You cannot control menu's like the example you have given but you can use the microbrowser to display menu's.

The FAQ holds an example:

Jun 12, 2013 Question: How can I limit access to certain menu’s?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above explains how you can use a hardware key. The FAQ contains some more examples.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

I see how to set an action URL to a softkey, however how can I program a hard key to do that?

I only see option for Line or BLF.
