Hi guys,

I'm trying to update the firmware on a newly purchased SoundStation IP 6000 and get Provisioning Error: Failed to Upload Configuration message.  It's current SIP software version is 3.3.3.0069 and the Boot ROM version is 4.3.1.0887.

I believe I've successfully updated the Boot ROM by copying the SoundPoint_IP_BootROM_4_4_0_Upgrader_release_sigfiles into the same directory as Polycom_UC_Software_4_0_7_release_sig_split

The phone is set to DHCP and connects to an FTP server installed locally on my set... I've attached a copy of the FTP details which I hope will help you diagnose the issue.

Please can you advise where I'm going wrong 🙂

Kind regards

Adam

Hello AdamC,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The log shows the Phone is retrieving the files but then aborts the transfer:

(000035)02/10/2014 15:45:43 - polycom (10.0.152.23)> 426 Connection closed; aborted transfer of "/bootrom.ld"
 (000037)02/10/2014 15:45:44 - polycom (10.0.152.23)> 426 Connection closed; aborted transfer of "/3111-15600-001.sip.ld"
 (000040)02/10/2014 15:46:14 - polycom (10.0.152.23)> 426 Connection closed; aborted transfer of "/bootrom.ld"
 (000042)02/10/2014 15:46:15 - polycom (10.0.152.23)> 426 Connection closed; aborted transfer of "/3111-15600-001.sip.ld"

Are there any firewalls ?

It does manage to upload its <mac>-app.log  / -boot.log so you may want to check in there.

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for the quick response, I've checked and there's no firewall between the device and FTP server

I've had a look at the app and boot logs but goes a little over my head I'm afraid!  Can you have a look at the attached log files and point me in the right direction

Thanks

Adam

Hello AdamC,

you must have not followed the instructions or downloaded some other files as the log is quite clear:

000013.829|cfg |*|00|Prov|Starting to update 3111-15600-001.bootrom.ld
000013.845|cfg |*|00|Prov|Starting to update bootrom.ld
000014.910|cfg |5|00|Error: file does not contain a compatible image
000014.910|cfg |5|00| Compatibility for image 0 is 0x411555
000014.910|cfg |5|00| Compatibility for image 1 is 0x411555
000014.910|cfg |5|00| Compatibility for image 2 is 0x411555
000014.910|cfg |5|00| Compatibility for image 3 is 0x411555
000014.910|cfg |5|00| Compatibility for image 4 is 0x411555
000014.911|cfg |4|00|Prov|File bootrom.ld was not compatible with the phone

The SoundPoint_IP_BootROM_4_4_0B_Upgrader_release_sig.zip file does contain both the 3111-15600-001.bootrom.ld and bootrom.ld that are required in order to upgrade from 3.3.3 to any UCS 4.0.x software.

I would suggest you download this again and then contact your Polycom reseller if this still fails.
