Hi,

I am trying to provision soundpoint and vvx series phones.

I have the IP address and need to figure out the MAC Address.

Is there a way to achieve this?

I was thinking of using OPTIONS and retrieving User Agent header which has MAC.

however phones dont seem to be responding to OPTIONS message sent via TCP or UDP.

I am using socket library to send messages.

What am i missing here?

testing on:

Phone ModelSoundPoint IP 335
UC Software Version4.0.13.1445
BootROM Software Version5.0.13.0801

Hello @adarsh_chauhan

why not simply get the log of the phone after a reboot?

The App.log and/or Boot.log should show the MAC address at the beginning.

Diagnostics > View & Download Logs

Or if you have access to the DHCP server you could filter for 00:04:f2 and 64:16:7F

Best regards

Hi Stefen,

Thank you for replying.

So just to give you an idea, i have people opening up tickets with IP and MAC of the phone and they want the phone to be configured. The ticket triggers a lambda to provision the phone.

We have some policy due to which we need to verify if the IP entered is of the correct MAC and provision phone accordingly through the Lambda function (python) in AWS.

I do not have access to the DHCP servers.

Sound point API is hard to crack and VVX API works above 5.8 if i am not wrong.

Hello @adarsh_chauhan

below UC Software 5.8.0 there was no REST API.

We always had things like the Telephonie Notificaltion we explain here:

Nov 24, 2014 Question: Can the Phone send Telephony Event Notifications?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

or

Feb 04, 2013 Question: Can I remotely control the Phone or send content to the Phone?

Answer: The <apps/> parameter can be used to utilize the push server controls and more information can be found => here <=

You could look into the sec.tagSerialNo="1" parameter as this add's the MAC into any SIP communication via the User-Agent as explained >here<.

This is similar to the device.prov.tagSerialNo parameters that offer similar functionality.

If you require more details please work with your Poly reseller as they can open a support ticket with us.

End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Poly support. Available End User Poly services offerings are detailed here

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter providing your MAC address or your Poly devices serial will enable us to look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Poly device from.

If the unit is no longer within the warranty please be prepared to Pay Per Incident / PPI. This is all outlined in detail here

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
