Have a weird problem with our phones but will focus on one Model: The SoundpointIP 335. Have deployed many system successfully with firmware 3.2.x but for this phone system we decided to use 3.3.2. So, the phone gets its initial config fine but disregards the localAdmin password I have defined in the config. The log files show it grabbing all its config files via ftp. No errors are reported. Regardless, the phones password remains as 456. I have ran the config files through Microsoft XML Notepad and no errors are reported (yes Im linking the xml file to the schema file to verify settings). I... am... stumped. Below I will paste the code for the admin password. I'll default the phone by formating the flash and still it doesnt take the setting. THANKS!!

Hello Joshrr,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Please ensure that you always consult the Admin Guide matching the UCS / SIP Version.

In your Case the Admin Guide for UCS 3.3.0 states on Page D - 1:

<device/>

The global device.set parameter must be enabled when the initial installation is done, and then it should be disabled.

This prevents subsequent reboots by individual phones triggering a reset of parameters on the phone that may have been tweaked since the initial installation.

device.set=""

If set to 0, do not use any device.xxx fields to set any parameters.

Set this to 0 after the initial installation.

If set to 1, use the device.xxx fields that have device.xxx.set = 1.

Set this to 1 for the initial installation only.

In Addition I can see 3x Errors in your Log File and you are also loading all the provisioning template Files.

I recommend you read => here <= to understand the changes in UCS in compariosin to the previous SIP Versions.

Please ensure to work with your Polycom Reseller and/or Polycom Support if you run into any further issues.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier

Hello Alan,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

As already explained to Joshrr you need to ensure that the device.set="1" Parameter is included as specified in my last post.

A working Example changing the Admin Password to 123456 would be:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

<!-- PlcmConversionCreatedFile version=1.2 converted=Mon Sep 19 11:21:45 2011 -->

<polycomConfig xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="polycomConfig.xsd">

<device device.set="1">

<device.auth device.auth.localAdminPassword="123456" device.auth.localAdminPassword.set="1" />

</device>

</polycomConfig>

Please ensure that above is copy & pasted using a UTF8 Editor or a XML Tool.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
