Shared Line (Simultaneous Ring)

Hello everyone,

 

     I am somewhat new to the field of VoIP so I have limited working knowledge about certain features and configurations regarding VoIP in general. I have two Polycom IP phones that are both running the latest firmware version 5.5.1Q. One is a VVX600 and the other is a VVX411. They are connected to the SIP server of my VoIP provider. I want to set them up so that when a call comes in it makes both phones ring. They currently both can send and receive calls, but a receiving call will only go to one of the phones and not both simultaneously. I tried to use the setting "shared" instead of "private" for each phone, and I gave each phone the same label. It didn't work, and I am really not sure how to bridge or share the line so that these phones both receive an incoming call. I apologize for my limited working knowledge on this.

This completely depends on your yet unknown SIP server. Please provide more details or check with whoever supports your SIP server or service.

Thank you for the response. I recently switched VoIP providers and the new VoIP provider supported the feature I wanted and guided me through the process to set up my Polycom IP phones in a manner that would allow a call to cause both phones to ring. I believe this is called SIP forking but I acknowledge that I may be wrong about this term. It was not a shared line appearance or call/ring group or hunt group that I ultimately needed.
