Softkey for consultative transfer

Softkey for consultative transfer

We have a special requirement: having both consultative and blind transfer on a VVX phones (currently on 5.3 UC version) with hardkey being blind as well.

I realize there's an option for long-press and selecting transfer type per call, but the end user needs to have dedicated softkeys.

If we enforce all transfers to be blind (via call.DefaultTransferType introduced in 5.3), I can't figure out how to setup consultative transfer softkey.

If we leave consultative as a default, I would need to have hardkey to become "blind" but

<key key.20.function.prim= $P1N4$$Trefer$ and /> option didn't work.

If I go to 5.2 or lower, I'd still need to figure out a way to make transfer hardkey be "blind".

Perphaps there's something else I could try here?

I wasn't able to find a solution by searching the forum.

Thank you!

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Try this for a BLIND softkey...accepts 4 digit extensions (not tested)

feature.enhancedFeatureKeys.enabled="1"
softkey.3.action="$P1N4$$Tinvite$"
softkey.3.insert="1"
softkey.3.label="Blind"
softkey.3.use.idle="0"
softkey.3.use.active="1"
softkey.3.enabled="1"
softkey.3.precede="1"
efk.efkprompt.1.status="1"
efk.efkprompt.1.label="Enter an extension"
efk.efkprompt.1.type="numeric"
efk.efkprompt.1.userfeedback="visible"
efk.efkprompt.1.digitmatching="none"

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Thanks for the tip.

The thing is we need Transfer key to do blind transfer too.

So I either keep default transfer as consultative and need to find a way to code blind to the hardkey (neither $Tinvite or $Trefer worked for me) or setup blind as default transfer (thus making hardkey blind) and then get a softkey for consultative (which is a challenge for me now).

Hi VoIPonaught, thanks for mentioning the long-press option.  Saved me from creating a new post asking about it.  We have users in our environment who wanted the option to have blind as the default setting but others wanted the option to choose between both options.

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Hello all,

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Feb 26, 2016 Question:Since upgrading the Software I no longer have a Blind Transfer Option ?

Resolution: UC Software 5.3.0 changed the default to a Blind Transfer and pressing the Transfer Button as explained => here <= offers additional selection.

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Steffen, thank you for referring to the 5.3 nuance, but I'm aware of it (as I've mentioned earlier).

We would suggest long-pressing the key, but the end-user would like to have a softkey for consultative transfer.

Is this possible (I can't figure it out).

Thank you!

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Hello VoIPonaught,

The above linked FAQ article shows how to change it from Blind to Consult via a configuration parameter. There is also an option in the Web Interface for this.

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Steffen, I'm aware of the option to change default xfer from consultative to blind. This is a great option by the way and I wish it was also available for x50 phones ("HD" line).

But for this particular case we need have BOTH consultative and blind transfers via softkey/hardkey.

Please advise if it's possible how to configure transfer hardkey on a VVX phone to act as consultative transfer when we set default transfer as blind; or how to setup a hardkey as blind when default transfer type is consultative (using $P1N4$$Trefer$ for programming hardkey didn't work, though it's fine for softkeys).

Thank you!

Re: Softkey for consultative transfer

Steffen, since you are pointing to "support territory" - does this mean that both settings (consultative transfer softkey or blind transfer hardkey) are something unconventional and need special setup (beyond usual admin guide, FAQs and posts in this community), perpaps using hidden/ undocumented features?

Thank you!
