Reverse Name Lookup

Polycom UC software 6.1.0 introduces Reverse Name Lookup for openSIP platform.

Note: Reverse Name Lookup doesn’t support searching for SIP URIs.

Reverse Name Lookup enables you to retrieve and display the names of incoming and outgoing calls from the contact directory. You can view the contact name from LDAP and local directories.
The phone displays the names for the following functions:

  • Placed calls
  • Received call
  • Missed calls

Reverse Name Lookup Call Log Scenarios

When you enable Reverse Name Lookup on your phone, the following call log scenarios occur:

  • When you receive a call that isn’t saved in the local directory, the call log displays the name either from the LDAP directory or SIP signalling.
  • If a user saves a contact on the local contact directory, the saved contact details display in the call logs instead of the contact name defined in the LDAP directory.
  • If a user deletes the locally saved contact, the call log automatically updates with the name defined in LDAP directory.

Configuration:

  • up.rnl.priority = “SIP, LOCAL, LDAP”
  • By default priority is set to SIP, LOCAL and LDAP.
  • Set the parameter up.useDirectoryNames to 1 to use the Reverse Name Lookup

Call Park Reminder Tone

When a user parks a call in a user group, a reminder alert tone plays after a designated time interval, if no one retrieves the parked call.

The Call Park Reminder Tone includes the following behaviour:

  • An audio notification plays on the VVX phone when a user parks a call. The user can park the call either on a registration line (private and shared) or a BLF line.
  • There are no audio and reminder notifications for a self-parked call
  • The tones play in the following order:
    ◦ Incoming call
    ◦ BLF offer ringtone
    ◦ Reminder alert tone for registration line
    ◦ Reminder alert tone for BLF line

The configuration for BLF line reminder tone notifications is the same as Key System Emulation (KSE) configuration. For more information on Key System Emulation, see the Polycom UC Software
Administrator Guide at the Polycom UC Software Support Center.

Session Management on the Web Configuration Utility

Polycom introduces session management on the Web Configuration Utility to enhance phone security. With session management, you can configure the following:

  • The maximum number of sessions
  • Session validity

If you change the Web Configuration Utility password, all the existing sessions expire and you must log in with the new password. If session reaches maximum limit, all the existing sessions expire and the new session continues on the Web Configuration Utility.

Session Management Parameters

Use the following parameters to configure session management.

httpd.cfg.session.maxSessionAge

Specify the maximum duration of a session in idle state.

900 seconds (default)
60 – 86,400 seconds
Change causes the system to restart or reboot.

httpd.cfg.session.maxSessions

Specify the maximum number of concurrent sessions.
10 (default)
1 – 20 sessions
Change causes the system to restart or reboot.

STUN Parameters

Prior to UC Software 6.1.0 STUN implementation did not support the functionality of RFC 3581. This meant during a port change Firewall/NAT STUN connection is lost. This resulted in phones being unable to make or receive calls.

UC 6.1.0 added support for Rport & RFC 3581.

Polycom UC software supports Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN). This section lists
parameters that configure STUN.

nat.refresh.interval

Set the time interval for the phone to send STUN binding indications to keep the NAT port open
and the phone reachable.

  • 30 seconds (default) - The phone sends STUN binding indications for every 30 seconds to keep the NAT port open and the phone reachable.
  • 0 second - Disable STUN Binding indication to refresh NAT bindings.
  • 3600 seconds

nat.device.pollInterval

Set the time interval for the phone to send STUN binding request to the STUN server to detect
whether NAT device is rebooted.

  • 120 seconds (default)
  • 0 - 900 seconds

Note: Poly recommends not to set the value as 0 second

Software Upgrade Resiliency

Polycom UC software supports software upgrade resiliency to configure the number of attempts a VVX phone uses to update the UC software.

The phone may fail to upgrade the UC software due to the following scenarios:

  • Network outage during download
  • Image corruption at the source or network

If the phone fails to upgrade to the new UC software version after the defined prescribed number of
attempts, the VVX phone retains the existing UC software version. By default, this feature is disabled.

Software Upgrade Resiliency Parameter

Use the following parameter to configure the number of attempts for a software upgrade.

device.prov.abortSWUpgradeAfterFailures

Set the number of attempts for the VVX phone to update the UC software.

  • 0 (default)
  • 0 – 5
