Hello,

We have a SmartStation 6000 phone.  We can't enter phone number greater than 10 digits.  So for example, 9-1-866-297-2155 doesn't work.  The number is truncated after 9-1-866-297-21...

We can enter the full number in contacts directory and it dials correctly, but the inability to do this just from the phone keypad is very frustrating...   How can I change this setting?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Hi,

Thank you for your response.  I don't believe the answer I am looking for was in that FAQ...  I am however, not the expert, I am just trying to get our phone more operational than what it currently is...

To further describe what I am seeing:

I press the softkey that says "New Call"

I try to type the phone number 9 1 8 6 6 2 9 7 2 1 5 5

As soon as I enter the second "1" after "2" the number starts to dial, thus giving me an error when attempting to dial.

Up until I enter that second "1", the softkey "Send" is available...

However, when I create a new contacts directory for the same number (9-1-866-297-2155), the number is accepted into memory and subsequent attempts to dial that number work fine.  It is not practical for us to enter every number we want to dial into our contacts list...

Thanks you again for answering my post.  If my answer is in fact in the FAQ you provided, can you please explain it to me a little more clearly...

Thanks

Dave

Hello,

in the danger of repeating myself, as the answer is already provided in the FAQ, going off hook via the Dial Button or pressing New Call will present a Dial Tone.

Any Digit added after this will be compared against the North American pre defined Digit map. Once the amount of digits is reached that has been pre-defined the Phone will dial this number.

Dialing the number via the Keypad (cell phone style) and then pressing dial or adding them as a speed dial will just send this to the call server without checking it against the digitmap.

You will have to change your digit map. The explanation in Detail is already given in the FAQ Post provided in my 1st reply.

Best Regards

We suffered this for a while as well.  Had to enter all our internal combinations for outside ines, long distance codes etc.  I will say that a call to Polycom Support was suprisingly met with little help.  Yes, they mentioend digimaps needed to be set but offered no real help on how to do it.

This docuemnt helped us:  http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CHYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2F...

@ a_gunslinger,

the previous poster already confirmed that he understood the information as I pointed him to the FAQ and the post there contains the link to the detailed Digitmap document as well.

I found this thread because I was encountering the same issue as the OP.

I have to say, that FAQ link you posted does have the answer, but holy smokes is it overly complicated. It provides information that is so unnecesesary that nobody really needs to know. It's great technical information for why this issue occurs, but most people who come to this site to fix the issue don't care about the logic of digit mapping and dialing rules.

I think the FAQ responses could be simplified tremendously. Just my two cents.

Hello ebes1099,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I am unsure about your comment as the community aims at partners and end customer who may want to know the exact details about the digitmap.

You can always make a suggestion how we can simplify a post whilst providing some suggestions.
