SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

We are having trouble getting our IP 6000 devices working. The MTU size on our WAN is set to 1360, so we need to know whether it is possible to change the MTU size on the IP 6000 devices?

Thanks.

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Hello Neil87,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

UC Software 4.0.9 added the below:

net.interface.mtu

It has a range of number min 800 max 1500 default 1500

I have attached a file which needs to be unzipped, Edited to the Value of your choice and then imported via the Web Interface.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Hello Steffen,

First and foremost...

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.  My current release is 4.0.13.1445

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here: I've read this

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone? I read this
Resolution: Please check here

It seems that this post confirms that the MTU can be changed on the IP 6000 phones to  a range between 800 and 1500 by uploading the necessary configuration change.  Is this correct?  Does the same apply for the IP 7000?  You stated above that it was available as of UC Software release 4.0.9, but when I looked over the release notes, I didn't see anything that confirmed this.

Why do I ask?  I ask because it seems that the IP 7000 phones have issues when traversing our WAN, and in order to fix this, the MTU needs to be adjusted.  This option is not readily available in the web GUI.  I have however amended your config file, and uploaded it to the device.  Is there a way to check this?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Hello @Chris Krafcky,

Yes you need to create the config and import it

Mar 08, 2013 Question: Where can I download configuration files from or create these myself?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

You can simply create a backup and check

May 25, 2017 Question: Can I create a backup of my current configuration?

Resolution:Since UC Software 4.0.0 or later a backup can be created via the Web Interface Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup

For further questions that cannot be answered via the community please open a ticket.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.

End Customers are unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Steffen,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I had already imported the file from your config example.  I wanted to ensure that it had been successfully added.  I've created a backup, but the import doesn't seem to show.  I have attached it to this post.  As for the MAC address, it is 00:04:F2:EF:9B:9D

Thanks,

Chris

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Hello all,

The MTU parameter is for current VVX and Trio units only and not applicable to SoundStation or SoundPoint.

Re: SoundStation IP 6000 MTU Size

Hello all,

Just to follow this up.

Only the VVX and Trio Polycom phones have the ability to manually adjust the MTU value via a parameter or an option on the phone.

Since UC Software 4.0.13 or later for SoundPoint IP and SoundStation IP we addressed an issue where we would not honour the maximum segment size (MSS).
