Hi,

We've got an IP 6000 out in the wild which refuses to get an IP address (or stay on the network for more than 10 minutes if it does) when using the supplied PoE injector.

We tested the uint at our office, without the PoE supply, and it workes fine without issue.

When plugged in at the client's site, with the PoE supply, the phone does not come up on their network and the switch cannot even see the phone.

Anby ideas at all?

Thanks,

Synety.

Hello Synety,

two common mistakes are made with the PoE adapter.

Mistake number 1:

  • Plugged in the wrong way around. The short silver RJ45 is for the RJ45 port providing the network connectivity
The socket on the cable is to plug in the SSIP 7000 via a network cable. There is a logo printed on the socket to make this more obvious.

Mistake number 2:

  • The SSIP7000 like our other conference phone support 100 Auto only and often ports are set to 1000 auto. Set this to the correct speed of the SSIP7000 and the phone should receive an IP address.

To troubleshoot use a spanned port.
