We have a few SoundPoint IP 331.

I sip server is being spammed by registrations from the directory on the phone.

How can I stop this?

To: sip:*118282204@example.com;tag=143513370123364.

SIP/2.0 404 Not found.

*118282204 is one of the speed dials.

The phone itself is registered and working but we have these 9 phones spamming our server accounts for over 1/3 of total traffic.

We have thousands of extensions

Hello Nick CTEL,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition to the above are these speed dials setup as buddy watch ?

Double check the MAC-Directory.xml file on your Provisioning server.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Thanks for the reply.

UC Software Version 4.1.0.84959 BootROM Software Version 4.4.0.0080

We turned off buddy watch on most of the directory contacts but have not seen a decrease in traffic.

I turned off presense from the web interface as well.

Also we don't provision directory to the phones, the contacts we added to the directory manually

Hello Nick CTEL,

I can only assume, as you have not provided this detail yet, that you are using a SIP server rather than a LYNC server.

If the above is true please use a SIP Software for your phone. UC Software 4.1.0 and 4.1.1 for the SPIP / SSIP range is LYNC only.

UC Software 4.0.x like the latest 4.0.9 is for SIP servers.
