TCPPreferred question

We have some Polycom 650s running in the Broadsoft environment using BLF. Per the Broadsoft docs, we are using the transport setting of "TCPpreferred".

Most of these phones work just fine, however, a couple of them are not working correctly - these phones are using UDP not TCP.

The Polycom docs say "TCP is the preferred transport, UDP is used if TCP fails."

What conditions will cause TCP to fail?

In addition it is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release. 

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.
