Hi,

I have a requirement to reprogram  the Do Not Disturb hard Key button (or to program a soft key), on a Polycom 550, so that I can toggle between a silent ring and normal ring. The use case would be when the user has a vistor and does not want to be disturbed by any calls but wants to be able to see any incoming calls. This can be accomplished using the ringer volume but we would prefer a mute on/off button.  Do Not disturb will not meet our requirements because it would transfer the call to Voice Mail.

I have tried to use macros such as $FSilence$ but this macro does not work on a soft key or on the Do not Disturb key, ie I used

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<polycomConfig>
<hardkey key.9.function.enabled="1" feature.enhancedFeatureKeys.enabled="1" key.9.function.prim="$FSilence$"></hardkey>
</polycomConfig>

thanks

Vincent

Hello VinCor,

silencing the ring on an inbound call seems to be currently broken as already replied.

Toggling between no ringer and the normal ringer would be a feature request.

Hello VinCor,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC server

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

I had a quick look internally and this has been reported by one other customer. Please go ahead and open a Polycom Service request via your Polycom reseller if in warranty or open a Pay Per Incident support ticket if outside of warranty and quote VOIP-109005.

Hi,

My phones are at 4.0.4.2906 and yes we are using s SIP server.

The macro would seem to indicate that it is possible to silence the ringer. If so, is this a feature request?

Hi,

I didn't understand from your first reply that this was broken. You said:-

"I had a quick look internally and this has been reported by one other customer"

Are you saying that there is a fault with the Silence macro. If so, is there a fix available on a later software release?

Regarding a toggle button am I correct to believe that this function does not currently exist and it is impossible for me to me to program using macros?

Could I perhaps use 2 soft keys, one to silence the ringer and another one to restore the ring profile/

Thanks for your prompt replies on this.

Regards

Vincent

Hello VinCor,

Yes the silence function seems broken based on the internal ticket I found but in order to verify this we would need to get a ticket raised by yourself.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Nov 25, 2011 Question: How can I change the functionality of a softkey button / use EFK?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above provides examples to illustrate that an EFK is simply a way to replicate a key press or a sequence of key presses so you can emulate this.

Hi,

Yes I have programmed several softkeys for various functions and I have used that guide.

I'm very surprised that nobody has wanted this functionality as it is for example standard on cell phones.

Thanks

Vincent

Seems the solution could be to use:-

call.rejectBusyonDND="0"

Now when I select DND, I get the visual representation i.e. "(X) Do Not Disturb"

Incoming calls dsiplay on the screen but without any ringing.

I can toggle the ringer to silent during an incoming call.
