Troubles Provisioning Soundpoint 550 IP phone using FreePBX

Hello,

The phone has been reset to factory defaults. I tried putting in the Split and Combined files from the Polycom downloads site however unable to provision the phone. The phone boots up without any errors on the screen but doesn't have the extension on it and can't make calls. I can ping the phone from the phone server.

The files and the phone version is 4.1.0.84959

* Running Asterisk Version : Asterisk 1.4.21.2

* Asterisk Source Version  : 1.4.21.2

* Zaptel Source Version    : 1.4.12.1

* Libpri Source Version    : 1.4.9

* Addons Source Version    : 1.4.7

I was getting the Error message "pre-3.3.0 params", but that went away with the new files I think.

This is my first time configuring a phone system, and this phone version is newer then any of the other phones in our office. I have been reading many documents but each one seems to link me to 4 more, getting confused as to what I still need to update to make this work.

Do I also need to update the <macaddr>.cfg and <extension>.cfg files to a different format?

Which of these files are for the 550?

2345-12500-001.bootrom.ld
2345-12500-001.sip.ld

Any help is appreciated. Please let me know what additional info you need.

Thank you,

Fred

Hello Fred123,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Most likely your FreePBX does not support the new Polycom UCS 4.x.x yet.

You would simply need to downgrade your SPIP550 to the same or similar software that your other phones are running.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:
