Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot some unvoluntary rebooting of phones, and although I have no strong reason to believe it is linked to this log message, I am trying to understand where it comes from.  The complete entry (that is repeated quite often) is :

doDnsListLookup(udp): doDnsSrvLookupForARecordList '4505551234' found no records

4505551234 corresponds to the user's phone number, but nowhere in the config file does this number appear. In fact, my registration servers are all IP, no FQDN.  The only DNS lookups that should be made by the phone is the initial provisioning (the prov server is a FQDN) and the NTP (which is also FQDN).

Why is the phone doing a DNS or DNS related lookup using the phone number, if it isn't defined anywhere in the config files?

NOTE: The reason I am asking is that some phone "freezing" seem to correspond to many such messages all within a few seconds (50 identical log entries within 4-5 seconds).  But even if it's not related I imagine it would be useful to understand the source of this.

Hello mgaudette,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition to the above the Phone Model may be useful.

Also is this SIP or LYNC and what is the call scenario. Is this just in IDLE state or during a call?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Yes sorry, I am using 4.0.8c on this particular phone, which I believe is the latest for a SoundPoint 550 (the phone in question)

Hello mgaudette,

is your phone registered via an IP address or FQDN?  Do you dial this number or is this a shared line ?

We would need more details and most likely get you to raise a case via your Polycom reseller.

Best Regards
