I have seen Steffan advise others to use this page if they want any extra features like this adding:

http://support.polycom.com/support/feature_request.html

But the page is down, and to be honest I am not sure it is even really what I want here.

Basically to summerise the goals (We are using SoundPoint 321 phones):

We use Agent logins on each device, the Agents do not have voicemail as they work in a call centre and there is no need.

We want to use the MWI light to come on when the phone has an advisor logged in to the queue, and to go off when they Log out or go on Pause

Looking at other posts about MWI usage I think we might be able to make it so the Asterisk server sends a SIP Notify to the phone when they are logged in and withdraw that when they pause or log out of the queue.

Does this sound possible? Would I be better off making a feature request, or is this a feature that has already been built in to a later UCS I was not aware of? (We are still using pre 3.3.0 configs on these servers and could upgrade them if it will fix or make this easier).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Rumbles,

Currently the MWI light will only react to a SIP Message containing the MWI information. It will in addition display an envelope on the phones display.

You could "hack" your call server if possible to do this but it would not be very intuitive and may confuse users as the GUI is not designed to be using the MWI LED for anything else.

The "older" method that could be used by everybody is no longer functional and you now have to work with your Polycom Sales Engineer to bring this to the attention of a Polycom product manager.

Thanks for your prompt response Steffen,

When you mention the older method, is that the feature request page which is now down? We are currently looking at buying around 1000 of these handsets for some planned installations and as such we would find this feature very useful at a number of sites.

Is there any way to control what is turned on when the SIP notify message is received, ie just the light, not the Icon showing the amount of Messages on the server. Or would it be all or nothing?

Thanks,

Hello Rumbles,

as far as I am aware it is all or nothing.

I can only suggest to work with Keith on that.

Hi just as a follow up and a few further questions.

We have found that you can use the sipsak command to alert the phone to act as if it has a new Voicemail message waiting, and we can even trim out the bit where it will tell you how many messages are waiting, but as you say the Mail icon will always appear, we haven't figured out a way to have just the light come on.

From here we need to make it so that when someone goes on pause (for example) sipsak will tell the phone to turn its MWI light on. At the moment that is down the road slightly as we want to establish whether we can customise the light itself.

We were wondering if there was a way to make the MWI light stay on solid (i.e. act as if the call has been muted) rather than pulsing/flashing as it does by default. Any idea whether this could be configured at all?

Thanks,

Hello,

I am not aware of any such feature and you would need to work with an Sales Engineer to raise this as a feature request,
