I just upgraded to software version 5.0.2.2185.  I like it very much over all.  However, now at the top of the screen it keeps flashing between "My Status:[Available]" and a chain link icon (I think that's the BTOE icon.)

The flashing is very annoying in my peripheral vision.  Is there any way to hide/stop that?  I'm basically an end user but I have access to the advanced settings if necessary.  I have a sticky note stuck over it for now.  Perhaps electrical tape would color coordinate better...

Thanks.

Translation: "No, we like annoying flashing things on our screens.  Also, please know that if you want to complain we're going to make that process equally annoying."  I guess it's electrical tape for the win! 🙂

Hello mmfly,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I believe we already discussed this => here <= and the Phone only has an certain amount of display real estate to display information.

If you would like this to be addressed in a future release you need to work with your Polycom reseller in order to bring this to the attention of a Polycom sales engineer. You will need a business proposal to justify the change and include the amount of end points that are affected by this.

Please also provide the prove of a LYNC license per endpoint as described below.

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Information in regards of License Part Numbers can be found => here <=

Hello mmfly,

your assumption is incorrect.

Every company releasing software has to evaluate the input of its customer base and ensure that the effort required for a software change is in proportion with the demand for this.

If only 2 users require this change, but thousands of other users have more pressing issues, then the focus on a cosmetic issue like this is lower than implementing major features.

Add another person to this complain list.  So stupid there is no config to disable this.  How could this even go through development?  "yeah i dont think users will care their phone flashes My Status and date every second"  Fail.  Going back to 5.0.1

Hello ChadP,

I had replied to this and the other post and I did outline the correct procedure to get this to the attention of Polycom.

One solution may be to disable the clock

Please ensure you provide proof of LYNC licenses that will entitle you to run the software on your Phones when you raise this with our support team.

Dear all,

Just to clarify this post .

  • Before UCS 5.0.2 the phone would display any other status than available and alternate this with the time.

  • UCS 5.0.2 the phone will display any status including available and alternate this with the time.

I did bring this up internally but I would suggest as advised already to log this with your Polycom reseller.

Please also provide your proof of LYNC license for these cases.

Best Regards

Disabling the Time display does keep the icon from flashing, but I agree:  what an annoying feature.

Hello @Rainmaker,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC / Skype for Business server.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition please also provide details on what type of Polycom phone you are using.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
