hello

how can i mainpulate the config file so that i can move around the softkeys? i added a few custom softkeys (ie redial and blind transfer) and that has worked great. however i would like the conference button to always show up on the main screen i dont want my users to have to hit more --> conference for example. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Hello ,

Yet again please ensure you always check the community FAQ and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Nov 25, 2011 Question: How can I change the functionality of a softkey button / use EFK?

I have the same question, but am hoping for an actual answer instead of what seems to be the knee-jerk default deflection by the Polycom-Community support.  EFK is NOT what we are asking here.  I want to know how to re-arrange the feature keys.  Not disable them and re-create new EFK keys.  We have a lot of older VVX 310s and VVX 311s and need to know if simply re-arranging the menu order of the soft keys is an option.  Is this possible without re-building everything using EFK?

The Polycom Community reps have earned a reputation as being the DMV of tech support forums.  Mostly a frustratingly useless waste of time.  For every valuable answer there are nine others deflecting any effort by telling the user to go to a link marked "here" without ever actually taking the time to understand the question.  I am hoping whomever answers this is the exception.

Hello @James Larson ,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

First of all I am a bit surprised by your opinions of the Polycom volunteers who give up their spare time to answer questions and create FAQ posts.

In your case your question would need to be answered with No. This is not possible as you assume.

But, using EFK’s, it can be archived.

From the linked FAQ post:

Example 1: In this example below we are going to remove the new call softkey, change the function of the forward softkey to forward to the voicemail extension and add a new softkey to dial the voicemail and add our extension and pin automatically. NOTE: Below has been tested against UCS 3.3.3! Removal of the New Call Soft Key, automate the call forward facility and add automated Voice Mail access softkey

And

Example 11: Removal of the Basic Call Management Soft keys Polycom VVX 300, 310 , 400 and 410 and for example SoundPoint IP 550, 560, 650 and 670 have physical hardware keys for Hold or Transfer (in some instances even Conference) options and it may be therefore desirable to remove the duplicated soft keys that appear during an active call. NOTE: The Conference soft key cannot be removed from phones that do not have a hardware key mapped !

So the above tells you that we cannot simply re-arrange keys without also using the EFK functionality.

Please also remember when posting to provide the minimum required details as outlined in the community's Must Read First and the community's FAQ.

If you still struggle you can always work with our deticated team from Tech support.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.

End Customers are unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter providing your MAC address or your Polycom devices serial will enable us to look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.
